2017 James Halliday Wine Companion 5 Red Stars

Riposte has been awarded the much coveted five red stars in James Halliday’s 2017 Wine Companion.

As explained in the Companion “Outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity.”

Although winemaker Tim Knappstein has crafted wines for over 50 years, when commencing Riposte in 2006, he justifiably had to earn his stars a second time. The five red stars rating is even more significant when it is understood that in the 1960’s there were around 300 wineries in Australia. Today there are over 1400 wineries competing for recognition.

Even more pleasing to the Riposte team is James’ comment, “The prices for almost all of the wines are astonishingly low.”

When Riposte was launched in late 2006 Tim Knappstein’s driving philosophy behind the brand was to make exceptional wines that greatly over deliver on price.

Commenting on the rating Tim said, “We are very proud that five wines from our small portfolio have been awarded Halliday’s red star for special value for money.
